“I aim to make work that operates on the edge of perception, somewhere between the physical and the metaphysical, a kind of exploration of the peripheral. Work that is both about presence and absence.”
In his studio practice Simon continually explores ways of manipulating materials in an attempt to create truly unique sculpture that pushes expectations, exhibiting and selling his work nationally and internationally. His passion for, and understanding of stone enables him to successfully use it as a contemporary medium for creating art.
On a larger scale he works alongside architects, property developers, local authorities and urban planners, creating public commissions that become significant beacons of reference within the local communities for which they have been built. He has a particular ability to deliver art that is both unique, responsive to its location and yet retains its own sculptural integrity, creating thought provoking, memorable and site-specific art works.
